ALBANY, N.Y. – Auburn will not be eligible for the 2021 football recruiting class until after the 2018 season.
The Tigers have been forced to delay the recruitment of at least two other top prospects.
They were supposed to sign a fifth, former Mississippi State star, in the middle of their 2017 class but instead opted to keep one in 2018 instead of one in 2019.
And, they are expected to take a second-round pick in the 2021 draft instead of the fourth-rounder they had in the 2017 draft.
They will likely miss out on a number of other high-profile recruits.
Former Auburn cornerback Deionte Lewis, a five-star prospect, has been out of action since March with a shoulder injury.
Sophomore running back Christian Kirk will also miss the 2018 recruiting cycle with an ankle injury.
