Rutgers’ Rushing Leader, Top Recruits in College Basketball

Rutgers’ No. 1 rusher, R.J. Barrett, and No. 3-ranked center, Alex Collins, are the top three players on the 2017 recruiting class, according to 247Sports.

The No. 6 recruiting class in the Big Ten was also among the top five in the country, according in 247Sports rankings.

The No. 11-ranked recruiting class nationally ranks No. 7 nationally.

The 2017 class is ranked No. 9 in the 247Sports Composite, according ESPN.

The class of 2021 is No. 17 nationally, according the 247 Sports Composite, and 247Sports ranks it No. 23 nationally.

Rutgers returns its top four offensive linemen from a 2017 team that had the nation’s best rushing attack.

The team averaged 3.2 yards per carry and scored 1,527 yards.

The offense also had six players earn first-team All-Big Ten honors, including guard Alex Collins (6.0 yards per rush), defensive end Nick Schilz (7.5), offensive tackle Josh Kline (6,917), wide receiver Kevin Dorsey (6-2, 190) and wide receiver Jaelen Strong (6 feet, 208).

Rutger’s recruiting class ranked first in the nation in total offense (5,851 yards) and yards per play (4.25) last season.

The 2017 team had four players on first-teamer All-American teams.

The Scarlet Knights’ 2017 recruiting classes were ranked No, 13 nationally in total defense (95.5 yards per game), No. 14 in total scoring defense (21.7 points per game) and No, 10 in total rushing defense (5.5 per game).
