NC State hires Tarheel recruit to help on recruiting trail

NC State athletic director Joe Moorhead announced Wednesday that Tarheels point guard Austin Blythe has been hired to serve as the primary recruiter for the team’s upcoming basketball recruiting campaign.

Blythe, who will begin his first season at Tarheeling after transferring from the University of Oregon, has been on the recruiting trail for the past few years.

He has been involved in coaching sessions at the Tarheeled schools facilities and he was one of the players who helped lead the Tarheeels to a No. 1 ranking in the preseason polls, according to the school.

In addition to recruiting, Blytois job at NC State will include recruiting local prospects, according the university.

He will be tasked with finding the best local prospects and will work with the basketball recruiting staff.

Bryant, a 5-foot-10 point guard who is ranked No. 25 in the ESPN 100, has had a breakout sophomore season and is averaging a double-double of 14.5 points and 6.9 assists.

He is also the team leader in scoring (10.8 points per game) and assists (10).

He has also scored in double figures in every game this season.

Blessinger, a 6-foot, 6-inch point guard from San Diego, was named the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday after scoring 30 points against Oregon State.

The junior is shooting 48 percent from the field and 43 percent from three-point range.

Bylthe, a native of Lake Elsinore, California, has appeared in 17 games this season, scoring three points on 3-of-11 shooting, with six rebounds and three assists.
