With the new season underway, the recruiting cycle has started again.
That means we’ve got to get through the next few weeks in a much better state of mind, and with more money and better recruits in our pipeline.
As a result, this year has been a little different than the previous two, with plenty of new faces on the recruiting trail.
So let’s get started.
To help with that, here are a few quick thoughts from the top prospects and potential recruits.
Jared Goff, QB, Cal, 4-star: If you’re interested in Goff, the first thing you should know is he’s been a top-five recruit since he committed to Cal in January.
He’s also been one of the best quarterbacks in the country since entering the state of California in January 2016.
Goff is a top five-star prospect and the best of the 2017 class, according to 247Sports.
Brenton Robinson, DE, Washington, 5-star : As I mentioned above, Robinson is a Top-20 recruit and has been since he joined the Huskies program in late April.
Robinson’s stock is also up because of his outstanding work ethic and competitiveness.
He played his high school football at the University of Washington and has already shown he can be a disruptive force at the defensive end position.
Dezmin Lewis, RB, Clemson, 6-star : Lewis is an elite running back prospect.
He was a top 50 recruit in the 2017 cycle and could be a top 100 player in the 2019 cycle.
Jonathan Jones, LB, Oklahoma, 7-star : Jones is an absolute beast of a player who can make an impact on special teams.
Dante Blackmon, DE/OLB, LSU, 9-star, (from Clemson) : The biggest surprise in this class is that Blackmon is not a big-time pass rusher.
Blackmon was rated as the No. 13 prospect in the 2018 cycle, and he has already impressed at the position with his play in the middle of LSU’s defense.
Kamalei Correa, DT, Boise State, 10-star (from Boise State) : Correa is one of several Boise State prospects who can play defensive end, nose tackle or outside linebacker.
He has already made an impact in 2017 with Boise State and will likely be the biggest difference maker in the Boise State defense.
Marcus Williams, LB/DE, Auburn, 11-star : Williams is another linebacker who is a versatile player who excels at stopping the run and making plays when the defense gets into the backfield.
Tyler Lockett, QB/RB, Georgia, 12-star *: Lockett is a big, physical and very athletic quarterback with a long arm.
He could be one of those guys who is really hard to move around on the field.
Eddie Jackson, DE-OLB/DE/DE-OLF, Missouri, 13-star
