— Auburn coach Gus Malzahn has been named the next head coach at the University of Southern California, according to a release from the school.
Malzahn was named offensive line head coach of the Trojans in 2014 after working with offensive coordinator Jake Spavital.
Malzahns first season in Trojana was a disappointing one, as USC went 8-7 and finished in last place in the Pac-12 South, with a 13-23 record.
He was fired in August 2016.
Maljanchenko spent his first three seasons at USC as an assistant offensive line teacher.
After serving as the offensive line coaching assistant at Florida State, Malzansky left to coach offensive line at Tennessee, where he helped the Vols finish in last season’s SEC East title game.
Malizahn was an offensive line assistant at Oregon in 2011, where his offensive line led the Ducks to the Pac 16 title.
Malnows second season with the Ducks was a very successful one as they went 10-3 and went to the Rose Bowl in the national championship game.
