Texas recruiting group: ‘It’s like having a child’

The recruiting group that recruits top prospects in the country has made its first major signing of the spring and the Longhorns have committed to signing five players.

Five-star wide receiver Isaiah Smith is the first signee of the group, and he joins fellow top-ranked wide receiver Kenny Golladay and three-star linebacker Christian McCaffrey, who is also in the group.

Smith, who attended Texas-Fort Worth High School in Texas, was the No. 4 overall recruit in the state of Texas according to the 247Sports Composite, and the 6-foot-1, 205-pound wideout is considered one of the top prospects nationally.

He’s also ranked No. 8 in the 247Composite.

He’s committed to Texas and has committed to USC.

He chose Texas over offers from Auburn, Michigan, LSU, Florida, Missouri, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Utah.

Smith is the third Longhorns receiver to commit to Texas since Texas’ signing of defensive end Malik Jackson on Feb. 5.

The Longhorns also signed offensive tackle Tyquan Lewis and offensive guard Ryan Taylor on Monday.
