Syracuse University has signed three new scholarship players for 2021.
One of those is defensive tackle Deion Jones, a 6-foot-2, 310-pounder from the University of Tennessee who is the third commitment for the program in the 2019 class.
Jones committed to the program last week.
He was a member of the 2016 recruiting class that included four-star defensive tackle Jerald Hawkins.
He played in all 13 games as a true freshman.
The other two are offensive tackle Anthony DeCosta and cornerback Jalen Smith, both of whom are expected to graduate.
Both are rated as the nation’s top defensive tackle and defensive back by 247Sports.
Smith is rated as a three-star prospect and is considered the No. 2 overall prospect nationally.
DeCosta, who played two seasons for Syracuse, also chose the Tigers over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Louisville, LSU, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Stanford.
The 6-2 Smith is a three, 4.5-star recruit and was a consensus All-American in 2017.
Athletes and coaches from the program attended a pre-draft workout in Atlanta on Friday.
The Tigers will hold a press conference at 6:30 p.m.
