The Army recruiting office will open its first recruiting center in 2018.
The Army recruiting site in the city of Waco, Texas, will be the first recruiting facility for a combat-equipped branch of the U.S. Army, according to Army spokesperson Brig. Gen. John B. Stewart.
The center, which will be located at Fort Belvoir, will serve as the headquarters of the Army’s recruiting and retention office, Stewart said.
The Army has been struggling to fill recruiting positions since the 2014 start of the war in Afghanistan, when the service opened its recruiting office in Fort Belk, Virginia.
Army recruiting officials say they are targeting young adults who want to enter the U, with the goal of making recruiting more effective and less bureaucratic.
The new recruiting center will open in early 2018.
