Oklahoma Sooners, Arkansas Razorbacks and Georgia Bulldogs all made national news in recent weeks as they all were recruiting highly rated prospects.
Now, the top two prospects at each school are among the top five recruiting targets for the other teams.
The Golden Eagles and Razorbacks have been linked for years, but the latest chatter suggests that both teams are now making moves.
Oklahoma’s commitment to offensive lineman Ryan Gentry was recently reported to be up to $8 million per year, which is a lot of money for a prospect, and the Razorbacks’ commitment to wide receiver Tyree Thompson is $2 million per season, which would give him a pretty big payday.
The top two schools are also recruiting at the same time.
So which one are the two most likely to sign these prospects?
The Golden Eagle.
The team is still recruiting at least two high school players, but it has a lot more to gain.
According to 247Sports Composite Rankings, Oklahoma ranks No. 1 in the country and Oklahoma State is No. 3, both of which are ranked among the best in the nation.
The Sooners are also ranked No. 2 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, a survey that tracks the recruiting rankings for all 50 teams.
Baylor is also a top-10 school, but that is due to the presence of quarterback Jarrett Stidham, who has been ranked as high as No. 4 in the 247Sports Top 25, and his father, Austin, who is ranked as a Top 25 player in the state of Texas.
Arkansas is also still recruiting high school prospects, but has made some moves to improve its offensive line and defense, which have improved greatly this offseason.
As a result, Oklahoma has been making a big push to recruit at least one of the five players.
“We have had two of our four players (at Oklahoma) commit this offseason, and they are two of the top three recruits in the class,” Head Coach Lincoln Riley said.
“We are still recruiting, we are still getting some good, young talent, but there is a good chance that we will be recruiting at at least three of those five.”
The other top-five team is Alabama, which has been recruiting high-end defensive ends in recent years.
A lot of attention has been paid to Alabama’s commitment of defensive end La’el Collins, but many other top defensive prospects have also been coming to the Crimson Tide.
Georgia is also recruiting high, but most of the defensive ends who have committed have not yet signed their National Letters of Intent.
However, the Bulldogs’ commitment of linebacker Devonte Fields is still up for debate.
While it is not impossible that Fields will commit to the Bulldogs, the prospect has yet to sign his National Letters Of Intent.
According to 247sports Composite Rankings Rankings, Fields is No .1 in the SEC and No. 5 in the Big 12, and is considered the best defensive lineman in the game.
Both of these schools have made significant moves, but one could be heading for the top of the recruiting food chain sooner rather than later.
